URGENT ACTION ITEM

Dear Arizona Taxpayer,

We are pushing to get the Senate Appropriations Committee to hear the pro-taxpayer Truth in Spending reform bill. Senate Bill 1275, sponsored by Senator Steve Smith (R-Pinal County), would require a special vote if the Legislature wants to increase state spending at a rate that is faster than the rate of growth of state population plus inflation.

Regarding Paula Pennypacker's post on TABOR-style spending limits from the Saturday Republic:

For a moment, let's put aside the question of how much money is wasted, even at current spending levels, in AHCCCS reimbursements and in our K-12 system. For more on the latter, go here.

Let's also leave aside the question of revenue-neutral tax reforms, some of which are very good and worth doing, in our view.
