About AFP New Jersey

AFP-NJ is part of the nation’s premier grassroots organization committed to advancing every individual’s right to economic freedom and opportunity. AFP-NJ believes reducing the size and scope of government is the best safeguard to ensuring individual productivity and prosperity. AFP-NJ educates and engages citizen leaders in support of restraining local, state and federal government growth, and returning government to its constitutional limits. AFP-NJ also actively supports legislation that expands economic freedom.

Today, Americans for Prosperity-New Jersey has over 63,000 grassroots members in all 21 counties and is one of AFP's most active chapters.

On both the state and national level, AFP-NJ has been instrumental in fighting back against threats to our freedom and prosperity, such as government-run health care, regulation of the Internet, and Cap & Trade.

On behalf of the taxpayers of New Jersey, AFP-NJ has led the fight against eminent domain abuse, borrowing without voter approval, and taxpayer funded bailouts such as the multi-billion dollar Revel Casino bailout in Atlantic City.

In 2010, AFP-NJ became the first organization in the state to introduce an alternative, model budget -- The Taxpayers' Budget was landmark achievement which provided a blueprint for setting the Garden State back on a course to prosperity.

AFP-NJ is led by State Director Steve Lonegan, a former three-term mayor of Bogota and two-time New Jersey gubernatorial candidate. Steve is also the voice of the Taxpayer Minute radio spots, a project of AFP-NJ which educates citizens about big government threats, waste, and abuse.
