You gotta love the limousine, latte, leftist liberals in Portland who demand that we all return to the stone age by forcing fraudulent Global Warming rules down our throats yet are unwilling to step up and pay more out of their own pockets for “Green Power”. What pathetic hypocrites! Here’s the story in the Oregonian.

Cascade Policy Institute just released a study of Portland’s commitment to using green power in its government and it isn't pretty. In fact, it is laughable. The city council made a commitment in 2001 to use 100% Green Power by 2010, but is only using 9% of that goal today. Now, the excuse by the city is that they can't afford the extra $1.9 million it would cost them during a bad economy. Like they are now all of a sudden fiscal conservatives? Isn't this the city that raided the sewer fund for $20 million in bike path improvements, but can't find $1.9 million to meet its green power goal? And if a tough economy is the excuse, how about the boom years when the city was rolling in cash after the positive effects of the Bush tax cuts kicked in? Why didn’t they step up to the plate then and buy that more expensive green power during the good times?

The answer is simple: These “Do as I say, not as I do” hypocrites really aren’t that committed to the lifestyle they want to cram down our throats. They talk a good line, but when the rubber meets the road they won't follow through.

Their actions speak louder than their words.
