The Fort Worth Star Telegram recently put out an article regarding the preparation of yet another attempt to pass a statewide smoking ban in Texas this upcoming legislative session.
smokingrallyI'm not a smoker, but I do firmly believe that smoking bans are a reckless expansion of government that reduces consumer choice and clearly violates property rights.
The government has no right to tell property owners that they can't allow a legal activity in their private establishment. (Yeah, let's remember that folks - smoking is legal)
Government should allow consumer choice to prevail.
Smoking is visible and avoidable. Whether you want to go to an establishment that allows smoking or not is your CHOICE. Why would we want to allow government to take away that freedom?
If you agree with me, or don't, I'd love to hear your opinion on the matter. Post a comment on the Star Telegram article or here on our site.
