All Those Wasted Years - Who Will Pay?

Recent history has produced a number of liberal politicians (and one Communist Dictator) at the end of their careers suddenly realizing that their polices have been an utter disaster for the people they were supposed to be serving. Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski, in at least as stinging an indictment of his own party's policies as anything Republicans are likely to articulate, recently noted that Oregon government has grown too fast and too big during his 8 years as Governor. Now, Cuban strongman Fidel Castro has admitted that the Communist Dictatorship he imposed on that nation in 1959 just hasn't worked.

The really bad news for Oregonians and Cubans is that these "revelations" come after decades of these failed policies, and countless lives ruined and only at the end of political or dictatorial careers when the chances for citizens to exact any revenge are limited.

The Obama Administration and their allies in Congress have been busily enacting policies that are beginning to be widely acknowledged as failures. One wonders if it will only be at the end of his political career that the President will step up and admit he didn't know what he was doing and damaged the very nation he claims to love.
