Good press for AFP bus stop in the Sierra Vista Herald

Bill Hess gave us a decent write-up in the Sierra Vista Herald:

November is coming.

In large white letters, that message was painted on two sides of a bus, calling into action people upset with big government and the size of the federal budget deficit.

Wednesday morning, Americans for Prosperity rolled into town, and the Arizona director of the group, Tom Jenney, said the organization “is the largest grass-roots, free-market organization” in the country.

Speaking to more than 80 people — some who wore T-shirts with words like “Don’t tread on me,” “Fox News fan,” and “Jesse Kelly,” who won the Republican primary to take on a Democratic congresswoman, Jenney said he sees Americans for Prosperity as “becoming the NRA (National Rifle Association) of fiscal responsibility.”

As gun owners adhere to their Second Amendment rights when it comes to gun ownership, people who support AFP, the three letter shorthand for Americas for Prosperity, “want to cling to their wallets” and not have their money taken by any government, he said.

Another sign on the bus outlined what Jenney and others of the group consider recent examples of the government going over the heads of citizens in developing programs that are costing a lot.

The economic stimulus program is costing taxpayers $862 billion, cap and trade, which he called “cap and tax,” has a $846 billion payment due sent to taxpayers, and “Obamacare and Pelosicare” is costing the taxpayers $1.2 trillion, he said.
