AFP California: Time to Hold Barbara Boxer Accountable

Grassroots organization encourages members to watch Boxer’s debate tonight

Camarillo—This evening California’s U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer will engage in the first debate of the election season. Americans for Prosperity California is encouraging its members to watch the debate and take note of Boxer’s stance on key policy issues such as energy taxes, increased government spending and more regulations of businesses. The debate will air live at 7pm (PST) on CSPAN, NPR and local TV stations throughout the state.

Ahead of this evening’s debate, AFP California State Director David Spady issued the following comments:

“As part of our November is Coming campaign, Americans for Prosperity Foundation is educating citizens about the policy positions of their elected leaders. Public debates like the one between Senator Barbara Boxer and her challenger, Carly Fiorina, are an excellent opportunity to see where each candidate stands on crucial public policy issues.

“Barbara Boxer has consistently supported policies that harm California’s economy. She is one of the biggest proponents of Cap-and-trade, an environmental scheme that will impose even harsher regulations on businesses and increase unemployment—something California can’t afford right now with 12% unemployment.

“Boxer also supported the $862 billion stimulus plan that has done nothing to save or create jobs in California—it simply wasted our tax dollars. In fact, Boxer has supported increases on income taxes, gas taxes and the death tax. Boxer is a huge liability to California’s future prosperity. It’s time to remind Barbara Boxer that November is coming and she will be held accountable for her votes in the Senate.”
