Saline County Victory!

Last evening the voice of the people was heard loud and clear in Saline County. In a special election the voters were given the option of an up or down vote for a $55 million dollar bond proposal and a one cent sales tax that would “sunset” once the bond was paid off. The bond would have been used for a new Fairplex site.

As one member of the Blue Ribbon Highway Commission stated recently – a bond is just a simpler way to pass a tax increase. Conservative activists in Saline County recognized this and mobilized a 22% voter turn-out. Using common sense (a tax increase in this economy?) Ed Hariston, the Benton T.E.A. party, and other concerned citizens got the word out and brought about a victory for working families.
