Americans for Prosperity Asks McDowell: ‘How Can you Support Nancy Pelosi?’

Michigan is tired of increased spending, deficit, and unemployment

A new television ad starting today in Michigan’s 1st congressional district urges citizens to contact Gary McDowell and ask him how he can support Nancy Pelosi. To view the ad, click here.

The ad states that under Nancy Pelosi’s Congress “spending has skyrocketed, the deficit has tripled and Michigan’s unemployment is near highest since the Great Depression.”

“Pelosi’s budget will increase the national debt by trillions, government health care will increase spending and may reduce quality of care, Congress just voted to cut our seniors’ Medicare, and new jobs are nowhere in sight,” the ad says. “Ask Gary McDowell: how can he support Pelosi?”

The $156,872 ad buy will run on network and cable channels in the district starting today and continuing through August 11. It is part of Americans for Prosperity’s November Is Coming initiative – providing citizens a mechanism to tell politicians if they support freedom-killing legislation, like cap-and-trade or one of the endless bailouts, then citizens will remember in November.

“McDowell needs to hear from citizens on these key issues,” said Scott Hagerstrom, state director of Americans for Prosperity-Michigan. “His decisions are already killing jobs and raising taxes, and the Michigan economy can’t afford more of McDowell’s policies.”

The television ad also encourages citizens to sign AFP’s November is Coming petition.  More than 371,000 Americans have signed the petition at www.NovemberIsComing.com addressed to “Elected officials” and states that “If you vote Yes to big government programs or any other freedom-killing legislation, I will vote NO on you in the next election.” The petition goes on to list key policy actions the petition signer opposes:

“Fail to support efforts to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with real reform that puts patients first; vote yes to cap-and-trade energy taxes or fail to stop any related EPA regulation; vote yes to any more bailouts; or fail to stop any attempts to regulate the Internet.”
