Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) mailed 1,024 Anti-Tax Pledges to candidates running for office in New Hampshire. All candidates are encouraged to sign AFP-NH’s Anti-Tax Pledge and go on the record in support of smaller government, lower taxes, and the Constitution. AFP has already collected nearly sixty signed pledges from candidates seeking the following offices: U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Governor, State Senate, Executive Council and State Representative.
“The power to tax is the power to destroy,” said Tom Thomson, Honorary Chairman of AFP- New Hampshire. As we revitalize the pledge my father, former Governor Meldrim Thomson, made famous nearly 40 years ago with the slogan “Ax the Tax,” we ask you, as Governor Thomson said, to ‘practice economy and frugality … to obtain the blessings of liberty and good government.’”
“This pledge is about getting a commitment from candidates to keep their word even after they get into office,” said Corey R. Lewandowski, state director of AFP in New Hampshire. “Too many times candidates for office say one thing only to change their tune once they get elected. This pledge will ensure they remain steadfast in their commitment to smaller government, lower taxes and our constitution,” Lewandowski concluded.
