The AFP Taxpayers’ Budget lays the groundwork for fixing our state. Our budget comes in $2.4 billion less than the Governor’s, maintains state aid to reduce property taxes and includes the kinds of tax cuts and downsizing of government needed to make New Jersey competitive again.
Our Taxpayer’s Budget addresses our inequitable school funding system that sends millions of dollars to the Abbott Districts at the expense of our suburbs and rural communities. At the same time, we include funding for a school voucher system that injects much-needed competition and gives our inner city children a chance at a quality education.
Our Taxpayers’ Budget streamlines government by consolidating departments and eliminating programs that do not work.
Our Taxpayers’ Budget provides real stimulus to our economy by cutting taxes on business such as the gross receipts tax, the estate tax and the Hotel/Motel tax. And we cut income taxes by dropping the top end rate from 8.97% to 6.37%
These are just some of the proposals in our budget aimed at putting New Jersey's fiscal house in order.
And make no mistake, there is much at stake for our state right now. New Jersey can only regain its fiscal footing by cutting the size of government, reducing spending and creating a climate where businesses and individuals can prosper.
Our Taxpayers' Budget is a blueprint for doing just that.
We encourage you to review our budget and look forward to your active participation in making our Taxpayers' Budget a reality.
