AFP Joins Protest Against $350M Bailout of Morgan Stanley’s Revel Casino Project

AFP activists made their voices heard yesterday in opposition to the bailout of Morgan Stanley’s failing Revel Casino project in Atlantic City. Activists protested at Morgan Stanley’s offices in Jersey City.

Also joining in the protest were workers from the labor union UNITE-HERE. The labor group fears the bailout will give Revel an unfair advantage and cost jobs by pushing other struggling AC casinos out of business.

Below are three articles covering the protest, including some quotes from Steve Lonegan.

Let's keep the pressure up. Sign our petition and tell your legislators to vote agains this bailout!

Asbury Park Press: Controversy a safe bet for Revel Casino project

Steve Lonegan, a former gubernatorial candidate who heads the conservative group Americans for Prosperity, disputed Revel's assertion that the new casino will add 5,500 permanent jobs to Atlantic City's economy. He argues the tax break will create an unfair advantage for Revel, pushing other weakened casinos out of business.

"Taxpayers' money shouldn't subsidize putting people out of work," Lonegan said.

"This is the government picking winners and losers, deciding who they're going to subsidize at everybody else's expense," said Steve Lonegan, New Jersey director for Americans for Prosperity and a Republican candidate in last year's gubernatorial primary.
