The theme was economic freedom at the Americans for Prosperity – Michigan Prosperity Forum, where Michigan’s top grassroots activists gathered for a day of speeches and policy training.
"The energy at the Prosperity Forum shows that Michigan taxpayers are paying close attention to how proposed policies will affect the size and scope of the federal government and their family’s tax burden," said Scott Hagerstrom, state director of Americans for Prosperity – Michigan. "The tea party leaders, local activists, bloggers, and community organizers who attended will lead the policy debate in the days and weeks to come."
Activists listened to speeches from Presidential candidates Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney, commentators Andrew Breitbart and Michelle Malkin, and independent filmmaker and journalist Ann McElhinney, among others.
“President Obama has made it clear he's not happy about today's massive grassroots gathering in Michigan,” explained Tim Phillips, President of Americans for Prosperity. “But, the good people of Michigan have made it clear they're tired of his empty rhetoric and disastrous big government, big spending policies.”
The morning speeches were followed by panel discussions and grassroots training sessions aimed at helping activists make a difference for economic freedom and limited government.
